Have vendors come onto the bus selling everything you can imagine
Drink water from a plastic bag
Buy milk that’s in a box
Buy eggs that are in cartons on a shelf
Pay $6+ for cereal (here you do what you have to)
Pay $6 for a box of six granola bars
Ride in taxis that are ready to fall apart, don’t have a working speedometer, or are always driving on empty
Ride in the back of pickup trucks and nearly never wear my seatbelt
Spend Thanksgiving on an island in the Pacific Ocean called Amapala
Touch baby hammerhead sharks
Watch a sting ray get filleted
Make friends with 10 year olds who walk you around at night and take you hiking up a volcano (another one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done)
Climb a volcano and see three countries at the same time from the top: Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador (INCREDIBLE)
Swim in the Pacific Ocean
Go to a mermaid cave
Ride in cute little taxis in small towns
Get on fun party buses. I love the music here.
Ride a motorcycle without a helmet (so dumb I know)
Wear matching shoes, jewelry, and clothes that are the same color…so Honduran
Get to go to outdoor Christmas festivals with vendors, lights, live music, ride a little train with 2 skinny fake looking Santas in the middle of December and not freeze
Dance on salsa on stage for a free t-shirt Not that I wouldn’t in the States too!
Go to the airport to exchange money
Pay an extra surprise $35 of airport tax to be paid only in cash (Glad I know about it now!)
Stick out like a sore thumb everywhere I go and try to get ripped off by some
Hug students as much as I get to here because I don’t have to be afraid of lawsuits
Go shopping before church, buy beer for Christmas gifts, and end up bringing a 12pack to church in my back pack! LOL! What a heathen I am.
Sing Nsync’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” in Spanish at church! So great!
Make a list of things I want to do and eat at Christmas break because I miss them
Make a Christmas chain that now says I have 3 days until I’m in Michigan for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
